Men's Volleyball: Raiders shutout the Pride 3-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball walk away with a clean sheet tonight topping the Pride of Regis College 18-25, 15-24 and 25-16.  

For the first 11 points of the first set, the match was seemingly even as both teams traded point for point.  However it was only until, junior Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Mass) reared his head by scoring 5 unanswered points.  Reminding the Pride why he earned Offensive Player of the Week in week one of the GNAC Men's Volleyball Report.  Kokoros ended up with a match total of 9 points with a .333 hitting percentage

The Pride's Sophomore Kostea Andreenko (Marston Mills, Mass) and Drew Beimel (Redondo Beach, CA) both contributed significantly as their squads leading scorers tonight.  Andreenko tallied 4 kills and scooped up 1 dig, totalling 13 points on the night.  Senior Drew Beimel tallied an impressive 17 points and 4 digs.  Freshman Zabdiel Frias (Trujillo Alto, PR) also showed promising defense as the freshman tallied 7 digs.

Earlier this week, junior Pedro Campos (Downey, CA) was announced as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week for week 4.  The Cali-native came out with a total of 5.5 points, 2 digs and an astonishing 25 assists while senior Dashaun Graham (Highland Falls, NY) was among the top scorers tonight with 7.5 points and pulled out 4 digs. Sophmore David Smith (Clintion, Ohio) came out with 12 points and 4 digs wrapping the night up with a .533 hitting percentage.  Last but certainly not least, freshman Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, Mass) had a day as he walked away with 7 kills and a total of 15 points.

You can catch the Raiders again this Saturday as they face off against regional powerhouse, Springfield College at 7PM here at the Muldoon Fitness Center.  Regis College is scheduled face Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts at 7PM.
