Men's Volleyball: Raiders edge the Saints 3-0 in first conference showdown.

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Raiders hosted the Saints of Emmanuel College tonight in their first conference showdown at the Muldoon Fitness Center.  The Saints came out with vengeance leading the first set up to their 14th point, until Sr. Deshaun Graham (Highland Falls, NY)  said, enough is enough and took the lead with a punishing kill.  The Raiders never looked back, finishing the first set 17-25.

The Raiders stole all 3 sets, 17-25, 15-25 and 16-25.

Saints junior Captain, Erick English (Simi Valley, CA) showed his leadership earning himself 8 kills and 5 digs. While sophomore Mike Kokoros (Braintree, Mass) tallied 5 kills one the night, finishing up at .417 from the floor.

On the other side of the net, junior Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Mass) reminded the Saints why he was selected as the GNAC Player of the Week, in week 1 of the GNAC Men's Volleyball Report.  The 6'8, Outside Hitter notched 9 kills and 3 digs in his 3 sets while teammates Dashaun Graham contributed 11 kills and junior David Smith (Clinton, OH) chipped in with 10 kills, 2 digs and 1 block.

The Raiders are now 1-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play.  This win puts them in good spirit to face off against Wells College (7-3, 0-0) in Utica, NY this Saturday at 2PM.  The Saints (2-4, 0-1) will also be on the road this Saturday as they'll be traveling to Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass., to face York College.
