Men's Volleyball: Raiders sweep Emerson, improve to 6-0 GNAC

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team continued their recent dominance of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as they swept visiting Emerson College, 3-0 in a GNAC contest held inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders are now 6-0 in the conference with a 15-6 overall record while the Lions fall to 9-6 overall, 2-4 GNAC.

River won the three-set match by set scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-20.

Senior Grant Andler (Chicago, Ill.) powered the Raiders with a match-high 13 kills and a .476 hitting percentage. Sophomore David Smith (Clinton, Ohio) added nine kills and junior Khaynen Yocca (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded a .636 hitting percentage with seven kills. Senior setter Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) directed the offense with 34 assists to go along with his five digs and three total blocks. Sophomore John Equitani (Coventry, R.I.) totaled five blocks on the defensive side of the net and junior Dahnny Rogers (Penfield, N.Y.) scooped up a team-high seven digs.

Junior Win Kittivatcharapong (Bangkok, Thailand) led the Lions with 12 kills and senior Nick Rusk (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) contributed with eight kills and five digs. Freshman setter Marcus Cepeda (Sacramento, Calif.) dished out 14 assists and sophomore Carl D'Aguiar (Tujunga, Calif.) picked up six digs in the loss.

The Raiders will travel to Boston, Mass. for a 7pm game at Emmanuel College for their next scheduled contest. Emerson, meanwhile, will host Emmanuel and Mount Ida College in a GNAC Tri-Match on Saturday morning beginning at 11am.
