Men's Volleyball: Heckler named GNAC Offensive Player of the Week

(Winthrop, Mass.) For the second consecutive week, and third of the first five, a Rivier University student-athlete has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week presented by Corvias. This week the honor belongs to senior Matt Heckler (Simi Valley, Calif.).

Heckler helped lead Rivier to a 3-0 win over Elms College, which is receiving votes in the AVCA Division III national poll, in the team's only game of the week. The fourth-year middle hitter put down nine kills (3.00 kills per set) on an efficient .667 hitting percentage in the sweep. He also registered 1.33 blocks per set and 1.00 service aces per set to help the Raiders improve to a 9-5 overall record.

Heckler joins classmate Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) and junior Dashuan Graham (Highland Falls, N.Y.) as recipients of the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Rivier will be back in action on Wednesday evening as they get set to host Mount Ida College in a GNAC matchup at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7pm.
