Men's Volleyball: Raiders run streak to 15 sets; sweep Mount Ida

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team continued their winning ways this evening as they swept visiting Mount Ida College, 3-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest held inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The win ups the Raiders' overall record to 10-5 with a perfect 3-0 mark against the GNAC while the Mustangs fall to 8-7, 0-1 in conference play.

With the straight set win, by scores of 25-18, 25-10 and 25-12, Rivier has now won 15 consecutive sets.

Senior Grant Andler (Chicago, Ill.) was the offensive leader in tonight's contest as he hammered down 15 digs and recorded an outstanding .667 hitting percentage. Sophomore Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Mass.) was also electric offensively as he hit .778 with eight kills and junior Nathan Kunkel (Plum Borough, Pa.) added six kills, including fiver service aces. A trio of Raiders directed the offense with freshman Eric Roderick (Salem, N.H.) collecting the most assists with 15. Classmate Andrew Panameno (Los Angeles, Calif.) and sophomore Danny Sciolaro (Wayne, N.J.) each contributed with 12 and 10 assists, respectively. Senior Kyle Heidler (Hampstead, N.H.) scooped up 10 digs in the win.

Mount Ida was guided by junior Brett Southworth's (Orange, Conn.) 9-kill night with sophomore Kevin Keohane (Jefferson, N.J.) totaling 16 assists.

Next up for Rivier will be a non-conference tri-match at #1 Springfield College on Saturday afternoon with the Sage Colleges. First match, against Sage, is set for 5pm. Mount Ida will return to action on Saturday as well as they host Regis College and Wentworth in a GNAC Tri-Match starting at 10am.
