Men's Volleyball now 10-0 in the GNAC after a pair of 3-0 wins

(New Haven, Conn.) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team remains hot as they took a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference games this afternoon from Albertus Magnus College and Emmanuel College. The wins extend the Raiders' winning streak to seven games and they now own a 22-5 overall record to go along with a 10-0 mark in the GNAC.

Game One: Rivier University 3, Albertus Magnus College 0 (Final)

Junior Chris Markuson (Cupertino, California) knocked down 9 kills, 6 digs and had four total blocks as the Raiders swept passed the Falcons, 3-0 in the opening game of the afternoon. In total, 15 student-athletes saw action in at least two sets and three of them recorded five kills each – senior Terence Matatall (Danville, NH) and juniors Matt Tutino (Manorville, NY) & Brendon Tutino (Manorville, NY). Freshman Tyler Blank (Rochester, NY) recorded 25 assists in the win.

Game Two: Rivier University 3, Emmanuel College 0 (Final)

In the second game of the day, the Raiders cruised past Emmanuel 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-17 for their 10th straight GNAC victory.

Senior Aaron Almario (Alhambria, California), Matatall and Markuson each laced 10 kills and recorded hitting percentages north of .360 in the 3-0 win. Almario had the highest percentage with .467 while Matatall had a .471 percentage. Junior Shane Spellman (Norwich, Conn.) was right behind them with 8 kills and a .357 hitting percentage. Blank had 39 assists and both Markuson and senior libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY) recorded 6 digs.

Rivier will look to improve to 11-0 in the GNAC as they travel to Newton, Mass. for a 7pm game at Lasell College on Tuesday night.
