#6 Men's Volleyball defeats Anna Maria College, 3-1

(Paxton, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team continued their winning ways within Great Northeast Athletic Conference competition as they took down Anna Maria College, 3-1 this evening at the Fuller Center on the campus of Anna Maria. The win improves the Raiders' record to 18-5 overall and 6-0 in the GNAC while the Amcats fall to 1-9 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.

Rivier won the four set match by scored of 25-10, 21-25, 25-13 and 25-16

The Raiders were paced by junior Matt Tutino (Manorville, NY), who placed a match-high 13 kills, while freshmen teammates Matthew Ortiz (Los Angeles, CA) and Matt LaSance (Madison, CT) combined to dish out 31 assists.

Anna Maria senior Jonathan Gallardo (Marlboro, Mass.) led the AMCATS with 10 kills, 2 assists, and 2 digs, while freshman Michael Gaudelli handed out a match-high 26 assists with 7 digs and three kills. Peter Griffenkranz (Deer Park, N.Y.) added eight kills.

Rivier will host both Emerson College and Mount Ida College in a GNAC double-header on Thursday night inside the friendly confines of the Muldoon Gymnasium. The first game against Emerson will begin at 6pm while the Mount Ida matchup will be an 8pm start time.
