Almario, Blank earn GNAC Weekly Honors

(Boston, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has recently announced their weekly award recipients and Rivier's Aaron Almario and Tyler Blank were both recognized as the GNAC's Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.

Almario was a monster on defense for the Raiders back boning the 6th ranked team to a 2-1 week. The 6'7 middle blocker registered 20 blocks in just 12 sets for a 1.66 blocks per set average for Rivier. Almario, playing in his home state for the first time in his career, recorded nine blocks in a five set win over #7 UC Santa Cruz.

Blank continues to impress as a first year setter by collecting 123 assists and averaging 10.25 assists per set to direct Rivier to a 2-1 record on the week. The 6'0 setter also tallied 13 digs and seven blocks for a respective 1.08 digs per set and 0.58 blocks per set average on the weekend. Blank dished out 50 assists in a 5 set victory over #7 UC Santa Cruz to finish the week.

Rivier will return to the floor tomorrow night at they travel to Anna Maria College for a 7pm game with the Amcats.
