Tutino, Bynon, Blank named GNAC Players of the Week

(Boston, Massachusetts) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference recently announced that three members of the Rivier University Men's Volleyball have been named the GNAC's Offensive, Defensive and Rookie of the Week.

Matt Tutino was selected as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week as he had an impressive week in leading the Raiders to a perfect 4-0 week and GNAC wins over Mount Ida and Albertus. The junior outside hitter laced 33 kills in 10 sets played (a 3.30 kills per set average) with 8 total blocks. Tutino finished with a .426 hitting percentage on the week to go along with 4 service aces. His best game came against Albertus Magnus where he recorded 17 kills and 4 blocks in 4 sets played.

The GNAC named Matt Bynon as the Defensive Player of the Week as he registered 30 digs in just 10 sets played over three games as he helped Rivier to wins over JWU, Albertus Magnus and Daniel Webster. The senior libero had 15 digs against Albertus Magnus while adding 8 against JWU and 7 vs. Daniel Webster.

Finally freshman Tyler Blank was honored as the GNAC Rookie of the Week. Blank directed the Rvier offense as he collected 97 assists over 9 sets played- a 10.78 assist per set average- as the Raiders earned three wins this week. He had a pair of 30 plus assist games against GNAC foes JWU and Albertus Magnus and had a 26-assist effort in the win over Daniel Webster. The rookie also had a part in 6 total blocks.

For Matt Tutino it was the first time this season he has been named Offensive Player of the Week while both Bynon and Blank have been selected for the third time this season.
