#4 Men's Volleyball takes both ends of a Saturday Tri-Match

(Nashua, New Hampshire) Three men's volleyball programs came together in the Muldoon Gymnasium today to compete in a tri-match hosted by the #4 Raiders. Rivier was joined by Great Northeast Athletic Conference foe Albertus Magnus College and cross-town rival Daniel Webster College. The Raiders defeated Albertus Magnus College 3-1 and Daniel Webster College 3-0. With the victories Rivier improves to 13-3 overall and 5-0 in GNAC

In the opening game of the tri-match the Raiders were able to handle the Albertus Magnus College Falcons in four sets. The #4 Raiders earned the 3-1 victory over Albertus Magnus by scores of 26-14, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-15. Junior Matt Tutino (Manorville, NY) led the way for the Raiders with 17 kills and 4 block assists. Freshman Tyler Blank (Rochester, NY) contributed 36 assists and senior libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY) added four assists and a team high 15 digs. Also contributing offensively for the Raiders were senior Terrence Matatall (Danvile, NH) and junior Chris Markuson (Cupertino, CA) with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Freshman Matt LaSance (Madison, CT) chipped in with 2 kills, 11 assists, and a dig in the victory.

In the second match of the day for Rivier, the Raiders cruised to a 3-0 win over Daniel Webster College by scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-21. Rivier was paced by senior Aaron Almario (Alhambria, CA) who had a team high 10 kills, a solo block and assisted on four others. Junior Sam Kazlas (Allentown, PA) added 7 kills and 5 digs in the victory. Markuson and Tutino combined for 10 kills, 10 digs, and 7 service aces. Blank added three kills of his own to go along with 26 assists.

Rivier returns to action next weekend when they will travel to Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts to compete in the Endicott March Mania Invitational along with Sage College and Daniel Webster College. Albertus Magnus College will head home to face conference opponent Lasell College on March 6th. Daniel Webster College's next match will be on March 4th when they will travel to Lesley College.
