Men’s Volleyball finishes the impressive weekend unblemished

(Nashua, New Hampshire) The #8 Rivier University Men's Volleyball team finished off an impressive opening weekend with a 3-0 win over Endicott College in the final game of the 2014 Live Free or Die Invitational.

With wins already against #1 Springfield, Newbury College and #5 Baruch – the Raiders were tested in this one but were able to pull it out with scores of 25-11, 25-23 and 26-24.

Junior Chris Markuson (Cupertino, CA) registered 12 kills and a .500 hitting percentage as the Raiders move to 4-0 to begin the year. Senior Terence Matatall (Danville, NH) added 6 kills while classmate Aaron Almario (Alhambria, CA) laced 5 in just two sets worth of work. Junior Matt Tutino (Manorville, NY) was solid off the bench as he garnered 4 kills on 5 total attacks, including a service ace. Senior libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY) led the defensive effort with 10 kills and freshman Tyler Blank (Rochester, NY) was stellar once again with 32 assists.

Endicott got a 7 kill performance from senior Travis Netherton (Waukegan, IL) and both sophomore John Osbourne (Freehold, NJ) and senior Brendon Lowe (Malibu, CA) added 6 kills in the loss. Senior Carter Roche (Clifton Park, NY) had 23 assists on the afternoon while Osbourne was the team's leader with 4 digs.

Rivier will enjoy a week off before they hit the floor again on February 8th as it will be Alumni Weekend here at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The next scheduled contest for Rivier is on February 12th when they host Wentworth in the 2014 GNAC opener. Endicott will travel down to Boston, Mass. and battle Emmanuel College on February 8th.
