NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Men's Soccer team dropped a non-conference contest this evening to visiting University of Maine-Farmington, 1-0 under the lights at Joanne Merrill Field. The loss sends the Raiders to an overall record of 1-7-1 while the Beavers improve to 4-4-0 on the season.

The two teams battled to a scoreless first half as both squad totaled four shots while the Raiders held the advantage with the corners (3-2).

The Beavers broke the scoreless game in the 63rd minute as junior James Pelletier (Topsham, Maine) drilled a shot from about 27 yards out into the upper corner of the net. It was Pelletier's second goal of season and it gave UMaine-Farmington a 1-0 advantage.

Rivier had an opportunity to tie the game with 17 minutes left as a penalty kick was awarded to the Raiders. However UMF freshman goalkeeper Jacob Statires (Bedford, N.H.) was able to dive to his right and make the save to keep Rivier scoreless.

Rivier senior goalkeeper Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) made four saves on the evening while Statires stopped all three shots, including the PK, he faced on net as he finished the final 45 minutes after sophomore Jonah Sautter (Lisbon Falls, Maine) started and made one save in the opening stanza.

The Raiders will return to action on Friday night as they host Johnson & Wales University for a 6pm Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Joanne Merrill Field. The Beavers will host Maine Maritime on Saturday afternoon at 1pm in their next scheduled contest.
