Men's Soccer: Francois nets first career goal in 1-1 draw with Becker

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team played to a 1-1 tie this evening against visiting Becker College under the lights at Raider Field. The draw moves the Raiders to an overall record of 0-10-2 while the Hawks are now 2-9-1.

Rivier freshman Adly Francois (Dorchester, Mass.) broke the scoreless affair in the 61st minute as he converted a pass from sophomore Pedro Lopez (Methuen, Mass.) for his 1st collegiate career goal.

Becker then responded in the 75th minute when junior Matthew Hillsberg (Burlington, Conn.) notched his 1st goal of the year, an unassisted one to account for all of the scoring.

Freshman Nicholas Hasenfus (Attleboro, Mass.) was brilliant in net for the Raiders as he made seven saves on the night while his counterpart, Becker junior Marco De Lauri (Edgeware, United Kingdom) stopped six of the seven shots he faced.

Although the game ended in a draw, the Raiders held the edge in shots (15-14) and corner kicks (5-2).

Next up for Rivier will be a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game on Wednesday evening as they host Regis College in a 5:30pm kickoff. Becker will host Worcester State on Thursday afternoon at 4pm in their next scheduled contest.
