Men's Soccer: Raiders come up short against Colby-Sawyer

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team fell this afternoon to visiting Colby-Sawyer College, 2-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Raider Field. The loss send the Raider overall record to 0-9 on the year with a 0-6 against conference foes while the Chargers improve to 4-6 overall, 4-3 in the GNAC.

Colby-Sawyer struck in the 13th minute as senior Anthony Romeo (Albany, N.Y.) lifted a cross into the box where freshman Jonathan Martinez (Stony Point, N.Y.) was able to head it past the Raider keeper for the early 1-0 lead. Minutes later the Chargers would receive another goal as an errant clearing attempt bounced off a Raider defender and landed in the back of the net.

Rivier would respond in the 69th minute when freshman Adly Francois (Dorchester, Mass.) was able to beat a pair of defenders and send a pass to sophomore Jason Adjei (Lowell, Mass.) who then buried his shot into the lower left corner. The goal cut the Chargers' lead in half at 2-1.
