Men's Soccer: Raiders blanked at home by New England College

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss this evening to visiting New England College under the lights at Raider Field. The loss moves the Raiders overall record to 0-5 on the season while the Pilgrims improve to 3-2-1.

The game was a tightly contested one for most of the 90 minutes as the two programs battled hard for loose balls and competed for a lot of 50-50 opportunities. NEC broke the scoreless tie in the 19th minute when Brooklyn Ramsdell collected a pass from Jacob Carney and delivered a shot to the back of net from about 14 yards out. It was Ramsdell's second goal of the season and it gave the Pilgrims a one goal advantage for the rest of the first half.

NEC then made it a two goal game when Cooper Valinski buried a penalty kick home in the 65th minute.

Rivier freshman goalkeeper Nicholas Hasenfus (Attleboro, Mass.) made three saves on the evening while NEC's Dylan Mix stopped the only shot he faced on net.

The Raiders will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference when they return to action on Friday night as they travel to Boston, Massachusetts for a 7pm kickoff with Emmanuel College. New England College will travel to Elms College for a NECC game on Saturday afternoon.
