Men's Soccer: Raiders blanked by Norwich, 4-0

(Northfield, Vt.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team suffered their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference loss this afternoon at Norwich University by a 4-0 final. The Raiders are now just 1-2 overall on the young season while the Cadets even out a 2-2. It was also the first conference game for both programs this year.

Norwich scored the eventual game-winning goal just seven minutes into the contest. Colin Lozito netted his first of the year off a feed from Camilo Estrada at 7:19. That would be all the scoring in the first stanza as the Raider defense held their ground firmly.

In the 64th minute, Luke Gleadle scored his first of the season and Matt Mazzola followed with his first ten minutes later for a 3-0 lead. The Cadets capped the scoring in the 88th minute on Gleadle's second of the game.

Rivier sophomore keeper Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) made seven saves on the eleven shots he faced. Brendan Germano stopped all three shots the Raiders were able to put on net for the clean sheet victory.

The Raiders will return to action on Wednesday evening as they travel back to Hartford, Connecticut for their postponed non-conference contest against Trinity College.
