Men's Soccer: Raiders allow late goal; fall to Albertus 2-1

(New Haven, Conn.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team lost another heart breaker this afternoon on the road at Albertus Magnus College, 2-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The Raiders are now 2-11-1 overall on the year with a 0-7-1 conference mark while the Falcons improve to 7-6-1 overall, 4-3-1 in the GNAC.

The two teams battled evenly for much of the contest. The game remained scoreless until the 75th minute when Albertus' Salah Oumorou placed a free kick just out of the reach of Rivier sophomore keeper Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.).

Four minutes later the Raiders would find the equalizer as freshman Pedro Lopez (Methuen, Mass.) finished a pass sent by classmate Antonio Houde (Woodsviille, N.H.) from about 30 yards out.

The Falcons would strike back just before time expired as Oumorou assisted on Matt Stoll's first goal of the year in the 87th minute.

Deyarmin finished with two saves on four shots and Albertus' Joe Russo made two saves on three shots.

Next up for the Raiders will be another GNAC road affair. Rivier will travel to Regis College for the first-ever conference meeting between the two programs. Regis joined the GNAC this season. Game time is set for 5pm.
