Men's Soccer: Moye, Raiders fall in overtime to Regis

(Weston, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team saw a late 2-1 lead evaporate as they fell on the road to Regis College, 3-2 in overtime this evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest. The Raiders are now 2-12-1 overall and 0-8-1 in against the conference while the Pride improve to 8-7-0 overall, 5-4-0 in the GNAC.

After surrendering an early goal to Regis' Derek Triana, the Raiders stormed back with the equalizer before time expired in the first half. Senior Ben Noelk (Georgetown, Mass.) netted his first goal of the season in the 43rd minute to knot things up at 1-1.

Freshman Prince Moye (Lowell, Mass.) would give the Raiders the lead in the 66th minute as he chipped a pass from classmate Pedro Lopez (Methuen, Mass.) over the keeper's head for his third of the year.

The lead was short lived as Regis netted their second of the game off the foot of Litchie Barbosa. Barbosa was able to place a free kick from about 25 yards out into the back of the net. Chris Szarek recorded the game-winner five minutes into the overtime period off a pass from Barbosa to give the Pride the win.

Sophomore Colin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) made seven saves on ten shots while his counterpart Jesse Bonilla stopped five of the seven shots he faced.

Next up for the Raiders will be their final home game and GNAC contest of the season as they host Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon. It will also be Senior Day at Raider Field as they team prepares to honor their outgoing seniors. Game time is set for 1pm.
