Men's Soccer: Deyarmin's clean sheet helps Rivier tie Emmanuel, 0-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team earned their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference point of the season this afternoon as they tied visiting Emmanuel College, 0-0 up on Raider Field. The tie moves the Raiders' overall record to 1-3-1 and 0-0-1 in the GNAC while the Saints slide to 0-4-2, 0-0-1 GNAC.

Sophomore goalkeeper Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) recorded his first clean sheet of the year as he made six saves on the afternoon. His counterpart, Emmanuel's Jonathan Ferrarini stopped the only two shots he saw on net.

Rivier's best scoring opportunity came in the 75th minute when Harley Kearney raced down the far side of the field and headed a shot over the outstretched arms of Ferrarini. However Giovanni Oritz was able to slide behind his keeper and kick the ball out from the goal line to keep the game scoreless.

Emmanuel had an opportunity to win in the game in overtime but the play was whistled for offsides and the game continued to its conclusion as a scoreless tie.

Next up for the Raiders will be a trip to Pine Manor College tomorrow afternoon for a 1pm kickoff. The Saints, meanwhile, will host Lasell College in a GNAC contest on Tuesday evening.
