(Amherst, Mass.) Six members of the Rivier University Men's Lacrosse team were honored on Tuesday morning as the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) announced their Senior All-Academic Team.

Student-athletes are nominated by their head coaches in Divisions I, II, & III as the teams are comprised of those who have excelled in the classroom and on the field over the course of their career. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have senior academic standing, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough of a player that he was at least nominated for All-Conference consideration.

A total of 128 seniors across all three divisions were honored, while 90 student-athletes from the 38 different NCAA Division III institutions earned the recognition. Wesleyan University led all Division III schools with seven selections while Clark University matched Rivier with six selections. Rivier's six selections were the most in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as Lasell College had four selections, Norwich with three selections, Saint Joseph's (Maine) and Regis College each had two honorees while Anna Maria and Emmanuel had one selection each.

Under the direction of 8th year Head Coach James DeLanoy, the Raiders enjoyed their most successful season in program history. Rivier finished 12-4 overall on the season with a 6-3 record against conference foes. The Raiders earned the #4 seed in the GNAC Tournament and defeated Anna Maria 15-5 in the quarterfinals before falling on the road at #1 Lasell College.
