Men's Lacrosse: Raiders suffer conference loss to Lasers, 18-7.

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Raiders suffer a conference loss to Lasell College 18-7.  The Lasers took a strong lead right out the gate with 8 unanswered goals in the first period.  Until sophomore Dylan McSparren (Warwick, R.I.) pulled the trigger with less than 2 minutes left in the period.  The assist was credited to senior Rob Fullerton (Wilmington, Mass.)

The second period the Raiders were able to slow the Lasers down.  McSparren struck again at the top of the 2nd period, capitalizing off a man up opportunity.  This was goal number 19 of the season for the sophomore.  The Raiders continued to show their resiliance.  Senior midfielder Eric Guinasso (Pelham, N.H.) netted an unassisted goal to close out scoring for the Raiders in the second period.  On paper the Raiders evened out the playing field in a few different stats.  Both teams gave away 5 turnovers and both were successful in their clear attempts.  However, senior goalie Cloutman (Peabody, Mass) edged out Lasers freshman goalie Alex Beauchemin (Westfield, Mass.) in saves, 3-1.

The third period began with senior Colby Larsen (Windham, N.H.) scoring off a dish from McSparren. This was goal number 19 of the season for the senior.  Two minutes later senior Chris Pennie (Wilmington, Mass) notched his 8th goal of the season. The goal was unassisted.

The fourth period is where the Raiders guard came down the conceded 5 goals before getting on the board again.  It was a Larsen-McSparren combination that unbalanced the Lasers with just two minutes to go in the game.  Then a Fullerton-Guinasso combo closed the game out, 18-7 in favor of the home team.

The Raiders are scheduled to kick the month off against Anna Maria College (3-5 overall, 1-0 GNAC) at home on Tuesday at 2PM. The Lasers will also face off against a conference opponent Emmanuel College (2-7 overall, 2-1 GNAC) in Boston on Tuesday night at 7PM.
