Men's Lacrosse: McSparren nets three in 10-6 loss at Mount Ida

(Newton, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Lacrosse team fell on the road this evening to Mount Ida College, 10-6 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest under the lights at Mount Ida's Alumni Field. The Raiders slide to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the GNAC with the loss while the Mustangs improve to 4-6 overall, 3-0 GNAC.

Freshman Dylan McSparren (Warwick, R.I.) led the offensive effort as the rookie netted three goals on six shots and junior Colby Larsen (Windham, N.H.) added two goals on his five shots on net. Classmate Sean Brady (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored the other goal for the Raiders.

Junior Matt Cloutman (Peabody, Mass.) made 10 saves on the night.

Mount Ida goalie Cam Hayward was successful on 14 of 20 shots he saw between the pipes and Marcus Donahue chipped in with a hat-trick to keep the Mustangs unbeaten in league play.

Both programs will be back in conference action on Saturday afternoon. Rivier will host Emmanuel College beginning at 4pm on Raider Field and Mount Ida will travel down the street to play Lasell with a 2:30pm start time.
