Men's Lacrosse: Raiders stumble on the road, fall to JWU 13-7

(Providence, R.I.) The Rivier University Men's Lacrosse team opened up Great Northeast Athletic Conference play this afternoon with a 13-7 loss on the road at Johnson & Wales University. The loss sends the Raiders back to .500 at 4-4 and 0-1 in the GNAC. The Wildcats, meanwhile, move to 5-4 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.

Rivier jumped out to a slim 2-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of action on goals from sophomore Nick Wolfrom (Pelham, N.H.) and junior Liam Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.). However the Wildcats answered with seven goals over the next 18 minutes to essentially put the game out of reach.

Sophomore Sean Brady (Tewksbury, Mass.) was the offensive star on the afternoon for the Raiders as he tallied three goals on four shots. Ryan finished the game with two goals while Wolfrom and junior Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) netted one each. Sophomore Matt Cloutman (Peabody, Mass.) made 17 saves in goal in the loss.

JWU received a pair of four-goal games from Max Stone and Sam Sears while Bradley Morris registered 13 saves.

Rivier will look to climb back above .500 in their next contest which is scheduled for 5pm on Wednesday evening at home against Salem State University.
