Men's Lacrosse: Sean Brady's OT goal lifts Rivier past Regis, 9-8

WESTON, Mass. – The Raiders struck 2:02 into overtime, taking a 9-8 win on the road Wednesday at Regis Stadium over the host Pride.  Sean Brady's (SO, Tewksbury, MA) third goal of the game provided the overtime heroics.  Matt Cloutman (SO, Peabody, MA) continued his strong run in goal as he closed the door on the Regis attack in the 4th quarter, only allowing a single goal in the final frame, while Rivier struck three times to reverse a 7 -5 deficit after three quarters and force the game into overtime.

Sean Brady scored the sudden victory goal with 1:58 to play in overtime to lift the Raiders (4-3, 0-0 GNAC) to the win, fielding a pass from Nick Wolfrom (SO, Pelham, N.H.) and firing a shot past Pride goalie D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.). Barille had a solid outing making 13 saves on 47 Rivier shots.

Regis (1-6, 0-0 NECC) held a 7-5 advantage through three quarters but was unable to hold the lead, falling behind by a goal midway through the final quarter. Zach Leighton's (Wilmington, Mass.) goal from Danny Rancano (Miami, Fla.) with 5:28 to play tied the score at 8-8 which proved to be the final regulation play goal.  Alex Ferran (Miami, Fla.) scored three goals and tallied an assist but it came in a losing effort as the Regis (Mass.) men's lacrosse team dropped its second straight overtime defeat.  The Pride was minus-three in the turnover department and even in groundballs with 27.

Brady finished the game with three goals and two assists for a game-high eight points. Joe Kelland (JR, Watertown, Mass.) added a pair of goals and an assist.

Rivier held Regis scoreless through one quarter and led 3-0 after Brady's goal with 12:32 to play until halftime. The Pride responded with four straight goals, two from AJ Karofsky (Barrington, R.I.) to take a 4-3 lead into the break.
