Men's Lacrosse: Rivier Falls 13-9 to Nichols

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's Lacrosse team (0 – 1) fell to visiting Nichols College (1 – 0) this evening 13 – 9 at Raider Field.  Rivier was ahead 3 – 2 after the 1st quarter, but Nichols used a 6 – 1 run in the 2nd quarter to take over the game and an 8 – 4 halftime lead.  Rivier had a 3 – 1 scoring run in the first six minutes of the 4th quarter to get within four at 11 – 7, but that was as close as the Raiders could get as the teams traded scores to close out the game.    

Rivier was led on the day by Colby Larson (SO, Windham, NH), 3 goals, 4 shots on goal, and 1 ground ball; and Eric Guinasso (SO, Pelham, NH), 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls.  In goal, Matt Cloutman (SO, Peabody, MA) went the distance and had 6 saves on the day. 

Nichols was paced by Tyler Sikich (SR, Hermosa Beach, CA), 5 goals, 1 assist, 5 shots on goal, and 5 ground balls; and MacKenzie Martin (JR, Merrimack, NH), 3 goals, 4 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls.  The visiting Bison were backstopped by 14 saves from Brian McKinley (SO, Nashua, NH).

Next up for the Raiders is a home game versus Becker College at 1:00 pm this Saturday, March 4th.   Nichols returns to action on March 4th when they host Anna Maria College.
