Men's Lacrosse sink Maine Maritime 14-5

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's lacrosse team defeated Maine Maritime this afternoon by the score of 14-5 in a non-conference matchup. With the win, the Raiders improve their season record to 1-0. As for Maine Maritime, they fall to 0-1 on the year.

This was a very competitive matchup for the Raiders in this one. Despite the 9 goal victory, the game itself was not so easily won by the Raiders. The first goal of the Rivier 2015 campaign was scored by freshman Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) at the 13:07 mark. Less than 5 minutes later, Tambouris would assist on a goal by Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) and another at the 7:50 mark scored by Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.)

Rivier began the second quarter with a nice 3-0 run. Goals by Kevin Dembkoski (Salem, N.H.), and two goals by Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) gave the Raiders the 6-2 advantage. A goal by Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) and a man-up goal by Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) gave the Raiders the 8-2 lead heading into half.

The Raiders had a strong third quarter as they were able to score the only two goals. Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) was able to score an impressive man-up goal at the 11:23 mark, while teammate Rob Auer (Salem, N.H.) was able to score an unassisted goal at the 4:34 mark.

Maine Maritime would score the first two goals of the fourth quarter, but the Raiders, with a strong offensive showing, would fight back by scoring the final four goals of the game. Three goals by Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) and a goal by Kevin Dembkoski (Salem, N.H.) rounded out the Rivier day. When all was said and done, the Raiders were able to walk away with the season opening 14-5 victory.
