Men's Basketball: Marks nets double-double in career home finale

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team dropped their final home game of the 2018-19 season this afternoon as visiting Suffolk University earned the 86-77 win in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest held inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders to a 1-22 overall record with a 0-10 mark in the conference while the Rams improve to a conference leading 7-1 record and 16-6 overall on the year.

Prior to the tip, the Rivier Men's Basketball program honored their lone senior as he participated in his final home game. Isiah Marks (Brooklyn, N.Y.) celebrated his afternoon with friends and family in a small ceremony as he capped off his college career. The team also honored four-year manager Mikayla Ramsdell (Salem, N.H.) who has been a staple of the program over her time in #RivNation.

Marks finished his career with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Juniors Nate Hale (Nashua, N.H.) and Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) each totaled 22 points and sophomore Tarik Rivers (Stamford, Conn.) pulled down six rebounds in the loss.

Suffolk was paced by five different student-athletes who reached double figures, led by sophomore Alex Jacovides (Tampa, Fla.) who finished with 17 points off the bench. Junior Thomas Duffy (Fairfield, Conn.) chipped in with 16 points and senior Jim Djema (Greenwich, Conn.) added 14 points. The other two double-digit performers were junior Steven DiPrizio (Medford, Mass.) and sophomore Brendan Mulson (Albany, N.Y.) with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Duffy and Djema also led the team with seven rebounds each in the win.

Rivier will close out the regular season with a pair of road contests beginning on Tuesday night as they travel to Pine Manor College for a non-conference tilt. Game time is scheduled for 7pm. Suffolk, meanwhile, will also return to action on Tuesday night as they host Lasell College at 7pm.
