Men's Basketball: Raiders edged by Norwich, 91-83

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team closed out the first semester of action this afternoon with a 91-83 setback to visiting Norwich University in a non-conference contest at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss moves the Raiders to an overall record of 1-9 while the Cadets even up at 4-4 on the season.

Freshman Jalen Watson (Woonsocket, R.I.) led all Rivier scorers as he shot 8-of-16 from the floor, including three three-pointers, for 21 points. Junior Nate Hale (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in a 20-point effort off the bench and freshman Jake Santiago (Manchester, N.H.) recorded his career high of 16 points and six rebounds. Junior Joshua O'Loughlin (Milford, N.H.) also collected the team-high of six rebounds and senior Isaiah Marks (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10 points in the loss.

Norwich was guided by a pair of double-doubles from sophomores Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) and Christopher Bryant (Crestview, Fla.). Bryant led the game with 22 points and 15 rebounds while Booth added 18 points and 11 rebounds of his own in the win. Senior Daniel Haimes (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) chipped in with a 20-point reserve effort and freshman Donovan Lewis Jr. (Savannah, Ga.) added 14 points for the Cadets.

Rivier will enjoy a lengthy break before their next scheduled contest on December 29th at the Catholic Charities Classic hosted by Saint Joseph's College (Me.). The Raiders will take on the host Monks in a 1pm tip-off on Saturday (12/29) before battling Regis College on Sunday (12/30) also at 1pm. Norwich will return to the floor on Tuesday night as they host Northern University of Vermont-Johnson at 7pm.
