Men's Basketball: Watson nets 16 points; Raiders fall to MCLA 75-64

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team could overcome an early deficit as they fell 75-64 to visiting Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in a non-conference affair at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders to 1-8 on the season while the win improves the Trailblazers to 2-6.

Freshman Jalen Watson (Woonsocket, R.I.) guided the Rivier offense with a team-high 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the floor. Junior Nate Hale (Nashua, N.H.) also reached double-figures in the contest as he finished with 11 and freshman Jake Santiago (Manchester, N.H.) chipped in with a 12-point, six-rebound effort off the bench. Sophomore Tyler Bradanese (Billerica, Mass.) pulled down eight-rebounds to lead the team.

MCLA saw both junior Joaquin Scullark (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Hayden Bird (North Adams, Mass.) each record the game-high of 23 points and sophomore Mike Demartinis (Burlington, Mass.) finish with 15 points as they won their second game this season. Scullark finished with a double-double as he led the game with 11 rebounds while Bird collected six on the night.

The Raiders will close out the first-semester on Saturday afternoon as they host Norwich University for a 3pm non-conference contest at the Muldoon. MCLA will host Union College on Monday night, beginning at 7pm in their next scheduled contest.
