Men's Basketball: Raiders upended by Maine-Presque Isle, 86-59

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team fell to 1-7 on the season this evening with an 86-59 loss to visiting University of Maine-Presque Isle in non-conference action inside the Muldoon Gymnasium.

Junior Nate Hale (Nashua, N.H.) led all scorers in the contest as he finished with 18 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the floor. Classmate Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) chipped in with eight points off the bench and both junior Josh L'Heureux (Dracut, Mass.) and sophomore Tarik Rivers (Stamford, Conn.) totaled seven points each in the loss.

The Owls, who are now 3-5 on the year, were guided by sophomore DeAndre Duncombe (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) who finished with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Junior Te'Von Hines (Woodbridge, Va.) and sophomore Shyquinn Dix (Stamford, Conn.) were the other two student-athletes to reach double-figures for UMPI as they had 12 and 11 points, respectively. Dix finished with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

Rivier will be back in action on Thursday night as they host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for a 7pm non-conference tilt. Maine-Presque Isle will host Unity College on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1pm.
