Men's Basketball: Raiders fall in GNAC opener to JWU

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team dropped their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this afternoon to a talented Johnson & Wales University, 113-70 inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders are now 0-7 (0-1 GNAC) to start the year while the Wildcats improve to 1-2 (1-0 GNAC).

Freshman Isiah Marks (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the young Raiders squad with 16 points while junior Angel Perez (Miami, Fla.) added 14 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Tarik Rivers (Stamford, Conn.) also contributed with 14 points and classmate Tyler Bradanese (Billerica, Mass.) finished with nine points and four rebounds.

The Wildcats saw junior Brian Hogan-Gary (Staten Island, N.Y.) accumulate 26 points, seven rebounds and eight assists to pave the way. In total, six Wildcats reached double-digits including the entire starting five. Senior Jarell Lawson (Providence, R.I.) chipped in with 19 points and freshman Justin Bullock (Spring Valley, N.Y.) added 18 points in a reserve effort.

Next up for the Raiders will be a non-conference affair at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Thursday evening. Game time is scheduled for 8pm. Johnson & Wales will return to the court on Tuesday night as they travel across Providence for a non-conference battle with Rhode Island College at 7pm.
