Men's Basketball: Raiders can't top Nighthawks

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team returned to the court this evening as they fell to Newbury College, 86-70 in a non-conference contest inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. Rivier is now 0-5 on the season while the Nighthawks improve to 1-2.

Sophomore Keith Poitier (East Hartford, Conn.) led the way offensively for the Raiders as he netted 18 points. Classmate Joshua L'Heureux (Dracut, Mass.) chipped in with 14 points, including 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. Freshman Ian Wade (Windsor Locks, Conn.) was the only other Rivier student-athlete to reach double-digits in scoring as he finished with 10.

The Nighthawks received double-digit efforts from four different student-athletes with senior Jeduan Langston (Roxbury, Mass.) registering a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds. Classmate Daivon Edwards (Roxbury, Mass.) shot 50% from the floor to finish with 23 points and freshman Miguel Rivera (Waterbury, Conn.) dropped in 20 points. Freshman Cameron Deiley (South Portland, Maine) finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds in Newbury's first win under Head Coach Rich Fazzi.

It will be a short turnaround for the Raiders as they will return to action on Thursday night against Dean College in Franklin, Mass. Newbury will also be back on the court on Thursday night as they host Tufts University.
