Men's Basketball: Lorden, Francis honored on Senior Night

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team honored their seniors – Kevin Francis (Cromwell, Conn.) and David Lorden (Pepperell, Mass.) prior to the 103-83 defeat to visiting Lasell College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference on Tuesday night. The Raiders are now 2-22 overall on the season and 1-16 in the conference while the Lasers up their overall record to 16-8 and 13-4 in the GNAC.

Lorden made the most of his final night inside the Muldoon Gymnasium as he netted 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor. Freshman sharpshooter Tristian Givens (Windsor, Conn.), recently named GNAC Rookie of the Week, went 11-for-22 FG and 6-for-12 3FG on his way to a team-high 30 points while classmate Keith Poitier (East Hartford, Conn.) finished with 12 points. Francis finishes his Muldoon career with an eight point night.

Lasell, who shot 47.4% as a team on the night, was led by senior Armin Omanovic's (Wilkesboro, N.C.) 34 points and nine rebounds in just 26 minutes of action. Sophomore Tim Blair (Newington, Conn.) had a solid night with 21 points and senior John Powell (Ashland, Mass.) recorded 16 points as the Lasers topped the 100 point mark for the third time this season.

Rivier will close out the 2016-17 season on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Anna Maria College for a 1pm GNAC contest. Lasell will also return to action on Saturday as they host Norwich for their own senior day beginning at 3pm.
