Men's Basketball gets setback by Pine Manor

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team dropped another non-conference contest this evening to visiting Pine Manor College, 110-61 inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders slip to just 1-7 on the season while the Gators improve their overall record to 6-3.

Freshman Keith Poitier (East Hartford, Conn.) led the team with 11 points and classmate Tristian Givens (Windsor, Conn.) collected 10 rebounds as the team only shot 29.2% from the floor. Sophomore Bruce Barton (Webster, N.H.) provided a bright spot as he recorded his career high of eight points this evening.

The high-scoring Gators, who eclipsed the 100 point mark for the second time in three games, saw the starting five all reach double-digits in scoring. Sophomore Ellis Reid (Hartford, Conn.) was the point leader with 18 while junior Taverick Robinson (Pittsfield, Mass.) chipped in with 16 points. Sophomore Erick Rosario (Lynn, Mass.) and junior Chauncie Williams (Hartford, Conn.) each netted 13 points in the lopsided win.

It will be a quick turnaround for Rivier as they will return to action on Wednesday evening on the road against Fisher College. The Raiders will close out their first-semester schedule at home on Saturday afternoon vs. Dean College. Pine Manor, meanwhile, will host Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon in their next scheduled matchup.
