(New Haven, CT) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team fell on the road this evening to #19 Albertus Magnus College, 76-66.
Freshman Edward Soucie (South Ryegate, VT) scored a career high 16 points off the bench as the Raiders saw thier season record fall back to .500. Soucie shot an impressive 6-for-7 including four three-pointers in his 14 minutes of action. Junior Tom Poitras (Bow, NH) was the only other Raider in double-digits as he shot 4-for-9 from the floor for a total of 11 points. He also collected 8 rebounds in the contest, which was the team high. Senior Chris Foley (Oakham, MA) contributed 7 points in the loss.
Rivier (6-6 overall, 2-3 GNAC) outscored the Falcons 41-25 in the second half but it was not enough to bounce back from a 26 point halftime deficit. Albertus Magnus has now won their last 31 GNAC contests - which is the second longest streak in NCAA Division III history.
The Raiders will enjoy a day off before they host Saint Joseph's College of Maine in a 3pm contest on Saturday afternoon inside the Muldoon Gymnasium.
