NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Field Hockey team sent their seniors off in style as they defeated visiting Lasell University, 4-1 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Joanne Merrill Field. The Raiders improve their chances to make the GNAC tournament with the win as they are now 6-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play. The Lasers fall to 8-9 overall, 4-5 against the conference.

Rivier got on the board early in the contest as freshman Madison Streeter (Westminster, Vt.) was able to corral a pass from junior Nicole Mansfield (Acton, Mass.) in the game's second minute. It was Streeter's 3rd goal of the season.

Lasell answered immediately less than a minute later when Junior Megan Horrigan (Wakefield, Mass.) knocked home a feed from senior Sam Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) at 2:58. It was Horrigan's 4th goal of the season and it knotted the game at 1-1.

With time winding down in the first half, Rivier regained the lead for good. Freshman Hunter Langley (Londonderry, N.H.) received a pass from Mansfield off a penalty corner and drilled the shot home to the back of the net for her 6th goal of the year.

Langley then notched her 7th goal of the season in the 34th minute as she was able to knock home a crossing pass from Mansfield along the goal line to make it a 3-1 contest in favor of the hosts. Sophomore Lia Yohanan (Andover, N.J.) then added an insurance goal in the 44th minute as she was able to collect a pass from Langley and find the back of the net.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Olsen (Saugus, Mass.) made six saves for her 6th win of the season while sophomore Sofia Rodriguez (Peabody, Mass.) stopped two of six shots she faced in the loss for the Lasers.

Up next for Rivier will be the final regular season affair on Wednesday afternoon as they travel to Anna Maria College for a 4:30pm conference contest. Lasell will also be back in GNAC action on Wednesday as they host Simmons University.
