FRAMINGHAM, MASS. – The Rivier University Field Hockey team suffered a tough 3-1 setback this afternoon to Framingham State University in a non-conference contest held at Maple Street Field in Framingham. The Raiders are now evened up at 5-5 on the season while the Rams improve to just 3-7.

Framingham State jumped out to an early lead in the 9th minute. Grace Thompson riffled a shot on net to where Mallory Weir was able to tip it home and give the hosts an early 1-0 advantage.

Rivier would strike back in the second quarter as freshman Hunter Langley (Londonderry, N.H.) found the back of the net and tied things up at 1 inside the 22nd minute. However that would be short lived as the Rams took the lead for good less than two minutes later. Jordyn O'Boyle notched the go-ahead goal with an assist from Isabella Kondi at 22:42.

Framingham State then added an insurance tally in the fourth quarter when Corlene Guenard tapped home a pass from Marissa Dias to make a 3-1 final.

Raider sophomore goalkeeper Katie Olsen (Saugus, Mass.) made five saves on the afternoon as her record falls to 5-5 on the year. FSU's Grace Pushor stopped three of the four shots she faced on net and is now 3-7.

Rivier will enjoy the weekend off as they will not return to the field until next Wednesday evening as they travel to Becker College for a 5pm non-conference affair.
