NASHUA, N.H. – Four second quarter goals was more than enough as the Rivier University Field Hockey team finished the month of September with a 6-0 win over visiting Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Joanne Merrill Field. The win moves the Raiders to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in league play while the Falcons fall to 1-6 overall and 0-3 against the GNAC.

The fifth win of the season is the highest amount of wins the program has had since the 2014 season when the Raiders finished 6-12. The five wins in the month of September matches the program high set back in October of 2014 (5-3 record).

Rivier got on the board in a hurry. Sophomore Maegan Sheehy gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead just 36 seconds into the contest as her unassisted goal was her 1st of the season. A 1-0 score after the opening 15 minutes of action soon blossomed into a 5-0 lead by halftime. Freshman Madison Streeter (Westminster, Vt.) made it a two goal game in the 16th minute as she recorder her 2nd goal of the year. Less than a minute later, freshman Hunter Langley (Londonderry, N.H.) added her 3rd goal on the campaign as she knocked home a pass from Nicole Mansfield (Acton, Mass.) at 17:18. Langley then assisted on the next goal, which came off the stick of freshman Carissa Letendre (Whitinsville, Mass.) and sophomore Lia Yohanan (Andover, N.J.) rounded out the first half scoring with her 1st goal just before the horn sounded at 29:32.

Letendre would finish off the offensive output for Rivier as she tallied her fourth goal of the week (7th of the year) at 32:56.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Olsen (Saugus, Mass.) did not see a shot on net as she registered her 4th clean sheet of the year while Albertus' Mikayla Lyston stopped 11 of the 17 shots she faced.

Next up for the Raiders will be a non-conference road trip to Framingham State on Thursday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 3:45pm.
