Field Hockey: Raiders blanked at home by Saint Joseph's (Me.), 3-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team lost a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this evening to visiting Saint Joseph's College (Maine), 4-0 under the lights at Raider Field. The loss sends the Raiders to an overall record of 2-10 with an 0-6 mark in conference play while the Monks are now 14-1 and a perfect 6-0 against the GNAC.

The game was held scoreless through the first 30+ minutes of action as Rivier senior goalkeeper Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) kept her team in the game with a couple of point blank saves.

Saint Joseph's was finally able to get one past Foster in the 33rd minute when Kayla Kelly corralled a pass from Emma Rutledge and rifled it into the back of the net. Just over a minute later, Arianna Kahler then made it a 2-0 game as she capitalized on a penalty stroke in the 34th minute.

The Monks then tacked on an insurance goal in the 60th minute when Rutledge recorded her own goal to account for all of the scoring on the night.

Foster made nine saves in the contest while her counterpart Megan Baker stopped both shots she faced on net.

Next up for Rivier will be a non-conference affair with Becker College on Thursday evening beginning at 5pm. Saint Joseph's will also be in non-conference action when they return to the field as they travel to the University of Maine-Farmington for a 1pm start time on Saturday afternoon.
