Field Hockey: Foster stops 16 as Raiders fall in Penalty Strokes

(Weston, Mass.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team fell on the wrong side of a penalty stroke thriller as they lost 1-0 to Regis College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this afternoon.

Junior goalkeeper Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) was outstanding as she stopped all 16 shots the Pride were able to riffle off throughout the 100 minutes of game action. Regis' Maresa Malcolm stopped all five shot she faced in the game.

The penalty stokes went eight rounds until Aineen Callahan knocked home the game-winner to give Regis the 2-1 PS win. Junior Mikayla Ramsdell (Salem, N.H.) was the only Raider to net a PS goal in the shootout.

Rivier will return to the field on Thursday afternoon as they travel to Framingham State for a non-conference contest beginning at 4pm.
