Field Hockey: Raiders close out season against Castleton

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Field Hockey season came to a close this afternoon with a 7-2 non-conference loss to Castleton University at Raider Field. The Raiders end the year with a 3-12 overall record while the Spartans are now 10-8.

Castleton scored five goals in the first half en route the to win behind a pair of goals from Sarah Wells. Casey Traill got the scoring started six minutes in before Emily Lowell and Allison Lowell connected on single goals along with Well's pair.

Rivier did manage to score twice in the final stanza when sophomore Jaclyn Fraser (Wilmington, Mass.) knocked home a rebound at 42:21 and freshman Michaela Charette (Orrington, Maine) netted her first of her career at 53:14.

That would be it however as Wells completed the hat trick in the 65th minute.

Junior Erica Royle (Kingston, Mass.) received the start in net for the Raiders and she made five saves on nine shots before classmate Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) stopped four of six shots in the second half.

For Castleton, Mikayla Hull and Leah Holland combined to make two saves on four shots for the win.
