Field Hockey: Raiders shutout on road by Anna Maria

(Paxton, Mass.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this morning to Anna Maria College, 3-0 at AMCATS Field in Paxton. The loss sends the Raiders' overall record to 3-10 with a 0-6 mark against GNAC competition while the AMCATS improve to 5-10 overall, 2-4 in league play.

Anna Maria got their first goal of the contest when Jacqueline Lapierre connected on a pass from Nicole Denver in the 12th minute. Denver would be credited with the assist on the next AMCAT goal when Chayna Bingham-Hend gave Anna Maria a 2-0 led in the 28th minute.

Allyson Shaw then capped off the scoring as she made it 3-0 in the 51st minute off a feed from Bingham-Hend.

Rivier junior goaltender Emily Foster (Lebanon, N.H.) took the loss between the pipes as she made 10 saves on 13 shots. Anna Maria's Bryanna Tobin stopped all four shots she faced for the shutout victory.

Next up for Rivier will be their final GNAC contest of the season as they travel to Providence, R.I. for a 1pm game against Johnson & Wales University. The Raiders will close out the 2017 season at home on Sunday the 22nd against Castleton University.
