Husson downs Rivier in Field Hockey

Nashua, NH – The Rivier University Raiders dropped a tough North Atlantic Conference decision today to Husson University, 9-0 in front of about a 100 fans at Raider Field on the Rivier campus.

Husson (4-4 overall, 2-0 NAC) got the scoring early as Liz Nobbin knocked in an unassisted goal just 2 minutes into the game. A few minutes later, Kara Poirier slapped home a Chrissy Larrabee pass to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage within the first five minutes. Poirier would return the favor as she set up Larrabee for the third goal while both Britt Mellor and Alice Sanborn found the back of the net in the first half.

The second half saw four other Husson student-athletes register tallies as Mariah Arno, Logan Wilson, Kayla Grindle and Renee Tessier all contributed in the win.

Rivier sophomore goaltender Mackenzie Flagg (Shirley, MA) allowed 7 goals on 18 shots and freshman Colleen Albert (Lincoln, ME) recorded 3 saves on 5 shots in her brief 11 minutes of action. Husson goaltender Maicee Gustin stopped the only shot she saw to earn the win.

Rivier will have no time to dwell on the loss as they will be ready to play Saint Joseph's College (Maine) tomorrow afternoon at Raider Field. Game time is set for 1pm. Husson will also be in action tomorrow as they stay within the state of New Hampshire to take on New England College at 2pm in Henniker.
