READING, MA: The Rivier baseball team split today's doubleheader against Lesley University in non-conference action. The Raiders took game one 11-6 and fell in game two 6-5.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/20/22

- Score: Rivier 11, Lesley 6. G2 Lesley 6, Rivier 5

- Records: Rivier (1-8), Lesley (6-8)

GAME ONE:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- This game ended in a complete game for Raiders pitcher Timothy Scott (Lowell, MA). He went all seven innings allowing just six runs while striking out three Lynx.  

- Rivier got the bulk of their runs in the fourth (4) and the Sixth (5). Patrick Young (Billerica, MA) and Conor Dines (Framingham, MA) led the Raiders offense with two hits along with two RBIs each. Dines even went deep for his first collegiate home run of his career.

- Lesley was led by James Brandon, who tallied two hits in the game to bring in two of the team's six runs.

 INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Dines and Young were both 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

-  Brandon was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

-  Cal Caruso had a solid performance for Lesley, going 3-for-4 and 1 run scored.

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Raiders would go up 4-2 after four innings of play. They would put up a three spot in the third inning. But Lesley would rally back with a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings to go up 6-5.

- Errors for Rivier allowed three unearned runs to cross the plate, ultimately giving the home team the win after the seven innings.

- Corey Cochran (Salem, NH) would throw six innings allowing just nine hits and striking out four in the loss. Christian Rapoza came in in the sixth for Lesley to finish the game on the mound. He went two innings and only gave up two hits while striking out four.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Six out of the nine Raiders hitters tallied a base hit. Zachary White (Long Beach, CA) would have the biggest hit for Riv in game two hitting a solo shot and going 1-for-2 with an RBI.

- Adam Budorick toped the Lynx, going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

UP NEXT:

- Rivier baseball will be back in action next Saturday, with their home and conference opener scheduled against Norwich University. Games are currently set for 1:00 and 3:30 PM.
