Baseball: Fred Kazalski named 3rd Team All-Conference

(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced earlier today their annual All-Conference teams for Baseball and Rivier University sophomore Frederick Kazalski (Dracut, Mass.) was honored for his outstanding 2019 season.

The second-year centerfielder was named to the conference's All-Conference Third team and is the lone Raider to be award this season. Kazalski led the Rivier Baseball program with a record setting performance as he played and started in all 40 games this spring. The left-handed hitting Kazalski batted .324 with a team high 46 hits, 24 runs scored and 30 runs batted in. He also registered an on-base percentage of .385 and a slugging percentage of .373 as this is the first time he has been named to the All-Conference team.

The highlight of the season for Kazalski came against the GNAC Tournament Champion – Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on April 14th. In the double-header, Kazalski went a combined 5-for-8 with a run scored and three RBI. He also recorded a three-hit game in the team's first win of the season against Baruch College on March 6th as his 3-for-4, run scored and one RBI performance helped lead the Raiders to a 7-0 victory.

Kazalski becomes the first Rivier outfielder to be named All-Conference since 2015 when both David Cusack (Newburyport, Mass.) and Jeremy Ball (Swanzey, N.H.) were named to the second and third teams, respectively.

Other GNAC honors – Senior Brett Iannazzo (Methuen, Mass.) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
