Baseball: Head Coach Anthony Perry volunteers at Fenway Fantasy Day

(Boston, Mass.) Earlier this afternoon, Rivier University Head Baseball Coach Anthony Perry volunteered his time at the 26th annual "John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day" at Fenway Park to benefit the Jimmy Fund. Coach Perry was in charge of greeting the Jimmy Fund patients at home plate as they came up to hit and when they finished running the bases. While he was not behind the plate, Coach Perry was out along the base paths cheering on the patients as they rounded the bases at the oldest ballpark in the Major Leagues.

Since 1992, the John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day has raised more than $7.5 million in support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's lifesaving mission. Each year, the event is supported by approximately 150 dedicated volunteers whose actions directly contribute to the fight against cancer.

"It was an absolute honor to be able to assist and help out today." Coach Perry was quoted following the event. "To see the faces of the Dana-Farber patients as they got to experience being on the field at Fenway was priceless. The simple pure joy and happiness that the people had, across all ages, on their faces was amazing. And the fact that all of their families were in the stands cheering them on is something special and something that I'll never forget."

This year, Fantasy Day volunteers helped over 300 participants live out their baseball dreams at Fenway Park. With an estimated 1,000 people in attendance, Dana-Farber patients were able to forget about their illnesses for a brief while and make unforgettable memories with friends and family. These once-in-a-lifetime experiences simply would not be possible without your outstanding support.
