Aramis Velez named GNAC Second Team All-Conference

(Boston, MA) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference revealed their 2013 Baseball All-Conference selections this afternoon and Rivier senior Aramis Velez was selected as second team infielder. This is the first time that the Lowell, Massachusetts native has earned All-Conference honors.

Velez enjoyed a terrific senior season in which he hit .371 with 4 home runs and 32 RBI. The first baseman also made just two errors in 188 total chances – good for a .989 fielding percentage.

He also tied Adam Bailey for the most hits in a single season with 43 and broke both Kyle Bowser and Joseph Gargan's Runs Batted In record of 25 with 32 this season. Velez slugged his way to a .569 slugging percentage and a .406 on base percentage.

Velez finishes his four year Rivier career as the program's leader in games played (117), at bats (374), hits (113), doubles (27) and Runs Batted In (75). He also finishes fourth in Slugging Percentage with .447.
