Raiders fall to the visiting Falcons, 7-2 in Non-Conference Action

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University baseball team fell to the visiting Falcons of Fisher College this evening, 7-2 in front of about 75 people inside of beautiful Historic Holman Stadium. The win improves Fisher, a member of the NAIA, to 28-14 and the loss sends the Raiders to 6-26 on the season.

Rivier got a strong performance from senior Aramis Velez (Lowell, MA) who went 3-for-5 and knocked in his 29th RBI of the season – a new single season Raider record. Sophomore Bryar King (Berlin, NH) recorded 2 hits and a RBI in his 2-for-3 night while freshman Taylor Black (West Springfield, MA) went 2-for-2 in the loss. Junior Gabe May (Portsmouth, NH) suffered the loss as he pitched two innings before exiting with a shoulder injury. Freshman Matthew Keefe (Bradford, MA) ate up some innings as he tossed 4 innings allowing just three runs. Sophomore Lucas Palma (Bristol, CT) entered in the seventh for his 16th appearance – setting the new single-season appearance record. Palma tossed a scoreless frame.

Junior Davidson Peguero (West Roxbury, MA) received the win for Fisher as he pitched five scoreless innings in his first start of the season. Senior Anthony Peguero (Boston, MA) led the charge as he was 3-for-5 at the plate. Sophomore Dominic Zaher (Chelmsford, MA) also had a three hit night and junior Brett Remon (Salem, MA) collected two hits and two RBI in the win.

Both teams will be back in action on Thursday night as Rivier will host New England College in a 7:05pm start at Holman Stadium. Fisher will host Worcester State inside of Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass beginning at 7pm.
