2015 Raider Invitational Recap/Results

(Nashua, N.H.) The annual Raider Invitational took place this morning on the beautiful campus of Rivier University. New Hampshire Technical Institute took home the top place finish on both the women's and men's side as well as the team championship for the Men. Emerson College took home the Women's Team Championship. The host Raiders saw sophomore Anna Pearsons (Kingston, Mass.) finish second overall on the women's side and junior Jonah Prevost (Nashua, N.H.) cross the line 14th as the top finishers for Rivier.

The unique course which features a step hill, rugged wooded trails and pavement was the site for the annual meet. It was a beautiful day weather wise as there were clear skies and a temperature around 78 degrees at race time.

The women's 5K race featured Emerson College claiming four spots of the top ten spots as they captured the team championship in the seven team field. Emerson finished the race with a team total of 32 points. Newbury College finished with 75 points and NHTI came in third with 86 total points. Suffolk University (86 points), Rivier University (102), Daniel Webster College (154) and Pine Manor College (186) all competed in the meet and rounded out the field.

NHTI's Raquel Gelinas cruised to a first place finish as she crossed the line at 21:32, 41 seconds faster than Rivier's Pearsons, who finished with a time of 22:13. Emerson College then sent the next four runners across the line as Chelsea Swift (22:30), Savannah Hubbard (22:35), Eastin Ashby (22:42) and Nina DeSilva (23:28) finished 3 through 6 respectively.

Daniel Webster's Ashley England (7th, 24:15), Newbury's Katelyn Roeser (8th, 24:20) and a pair of Suffolk runners – Michelle Kearney (9th, 24:20) and Caitlyn Caramello (10th, 24:30) rounded out the top ten finishers.

On the men's side, NHTI captured seven top 10 finishes to easily win with 16 points.

NHTI's Brendan McCoo was the fastest runner as he set the mark, crossing the line at 27:34. Cody Roberge came in second at 28:14 while teammate Dylan Tuttle finished third with a time of 29:14. Derek Burton of NHTI and Emerson's Cameron Sleeper rounded out the top five as Burton ran to a 4th place finish at 29:23 and Sleeper crossed at 29:23.

NHTI's Ryan Lynch ran a solid race to finish 6th with a time of 29:29 and NHTI's Greg Keilig was the 7th person to cross the line at 29:39. Michael O'Connor (Emerson – 8th @ 29:43), Steven Krejckant (NHTI – 9th @ 29:48) and Paulo Guedes (Suffolk – 10th @ 30:01) round out the top 10 finishers of the 59 man field.
