In every way, Sr. Sylvia embodied Rivier's mission to educate the whole person - physically, academically and spiritually. A beloved presence on campus for more than forty years, Sr. Sylvia (Sr. Louis to many) left her mark in countless ways at Rivier. As Director of Athletics, she almost single-handedly created the College's first competitive athletic teams. With infectious energy and good humor, she coached basketball, volleyball, softball and badminton, teaching more than a generation of students the skills, the excitement and the joy of uniting minds and body in spirited competition. Director of Athletics, however, was only one of her titles. Sr. Sylvia was a respected member of the faculty and Chair fo the Chemistry Department. In everything that she did, Sr. Sylvia was the all-around champion of students' academic, athletic and social lives.
